What to drink?

I was never a fan of drinking tap water. When I was at school and after playing “on-on” during our intervals we would all be thirsty and just need that one drop to quench our thirsts. My classmates and friends would run to the taps as the bell rang but no matter how thirsty I am I could never get myself to do that.

As time progressed I began to drink tap water but very seldom. When I heard about the time where maggots were found in our taps I completely stopped. That just put me off. Bottled water is all I drink.

Last year I received an email questioning just how safe is bottled water. Apparently, one should not use plastic bottles over and over. There is some sort of chemical that is released every time the bottle is used and this can cause cancer. The email also stated that these bottles remain for long periods in the heat (while being delivered, when in storage, etc) and this also allows the chemical to be released.

What also bothers me is whether or not this only applies to bottled water or to the juices, yoghurts and milkshakes that come in plastic bottles to. Just what to do we know about what we consume and the dangers therof?

So here I am, confused and bottled as to just what is the safest option when it comes to our health?

  1. I think we shouldn't water at all then or anything thing that comes in plastic containers. Guess its gonna have to be glass all the way- only solutions I could think off.

  2. Bottled water is a good option but an even better one is having a machine installed that purifies the water...the difference is amazing. It's actually scary when you think about what you are consuming along with a yummy yoghurt or milkshake. People really need to wise up about issues such as this and live healthy.

  3. It is true and right to be healthy, however we should not live in fear. It is a point which is valid from a health angle, but I do think if it was a great risk, other means would have been found. This is a great topic though, one that I trully enjoyed.

  4. Ai ai! You are lucky enough to live in one of the few countries where the tap water is in fact safe to drink, a place where you don't HAVE to go out and spend valuable income on water. Have you read the label on the bonaqua bottle (still water)? It says that the water in there is simply tap water that has been filtered a little bit further. Is it really worth paying that much for?

Yes, there was an isolated incident where there were maggots/worms found in the water but that was such an isolated incident! And besides, I'm sure you would notice the little wormy things in your glass if it happened again. :P

But, to each his/her own I guess :)
If it grants you security and peace of mind drinking bottled water then go for it, by all means.
